Total Recall - reboot
Just got back from seeing Total Recall the remake of the 1990's film. It's of course an adaptation from the Philip K. Dick short story, author of some of the best science fiction-to-film short stories out there. He's quite brilliant.
The film was good. But you have to understand, I go to films like this expecting what I expect. A piece of eye-candy. I don't know why people get all bowed up and irate over a film and whether or not it's the second coming. It's just a bit of entertainment. It doesn't have to be Tolstoy.
And really, do we want it to be?
A movie like this delivers exactly what it should. It was better than most recent fare, honestly. Transformers was an orgasm of eye candy but offered almost nothing else - at least this film offers great leads. And better eye candy. By far!
Len Wiseman, the director, paid homage to Blade Runner about three or four times in the film. He paid homage to the original 90s film several times as well in cute little hat tips. It was worth the ticket price to see it up on the beautiful big screen and if you're wanting some entertainment, you could do a lot worse than Total Recall.
