Caerphilly Castle - The Big Cheese weekend
The weekend we were in Cardiff Caerphilly was having a gigantic festival called The Big Cheese atCaerphilly Castle. You gotta love the UK. We have fairgrounds in dusty, dingy, warehouses and barns. They have their events at Castles. They so win.
There were absolutely loads of people there. It was kinda cool and interesting, but we didn't spend a lot of time there actually. Once you have seen a local convention like that, you've kind of seen them all (yep, even in the UK, they're about the same). They did have a very cool Falconry area, where I got to get close to the birds and take some photos, which I'll just toss in the album.
But to be perfectly honest, I like my monuments devoid of the public. People, prams, crying children, candy floss, sausages and ale - not really my thing 8) That being said, it was still fun to walk around. :)
Sometimes the stars align and even on a crazy busy day like the festival The Big Cheese, you can find a good shot that doesn't have anyone in it. Honestly it's because the festival wasn't in the Castle itself - only a very tiny part was. The main bit and the fun faire were across the moat in a large field. I'd like to go back here - because it's actually a pretty spectacular ruin. There was a ton of things I'd have love to have seen - but they had us herded through there quite orderly and we couldn't really walk about.
