Kenwood House, London
Kenwood House, Library
The recent refurb done here is quite spectacular. I was filling up my days in London and decided to go here on a lark. It's a public park basically - the grounds were peopled with moms and prams, dog walkers and joggers. But it felt like I was just taking a neighborhood stroll. I loved it.
I was absolutely gobsmacked upon perusing the house to be confronted with a Rembrandt painting (in a different room). One of his most famous self portraits, no less. A Vermeer was across the room and a Van Dyck graced the wall next to it. I think I was grinning ear to ear by the end, only to be utterly delighted to fully appreciate the J.W.M. Turner on the way out through the hall.
Was a pleasant and comfortable way to spend an hour or two. :)
